[TV Daily Reporter Kim Hangil] Some netizens who left malicious comments against the group NewJeans have faced legal consequences.

According to legal sources, the Busan District Prosecutors' Office has issued a summary indictment of 700,000 KRW against a woman, A, who maliciously edited photos of NewJeans members and spread false information last October. Additionally, the Daegu District Court’s Western Branch ordered a male individual, B, to pay a fine of 200,000 KRW for repeatedly posting harmful comments online.

Previously, Adore had made it clear that they would take a strong stance against malicious activities targeting NewJeans. They declared an uncompromising zero-tolerance policy, pursuing legal action against all malicious acts, including spreading false information, invading privacy, inappropriate remarks towards minor members, and racist comments about foreign members.

Meanwhile, Adore confirmed that Hani, Haerin, and Hyein would be accompanying them, while Daniel was notified of contract termination, and Minji is currently discussing her return.

NewJeans' recent reinforcement of legal actions to handle trolls under a zero-tolerance policy creates a more positive atmosphere for both fans and artists. This move strengthens the trust between artists and their fandom, showcasing Adore's commitment to fostering an environment where artists can freely engage in their creative endeavors.

In an age where vitriol often floods social media, this action serves not only as a wake-up call to those who post malicious comments but also as an opportunity to provide fans with a safer space. Knowing that their artists are under legal protection offers fans a sense of relief and is likely to positively impact the group's future activities.

As a rapidly growing group, NewJeans continues to engage a wide fanbase through their dynamic activities. This incident opens the floor for discussions surrounding artists’ rights and welfare, and it is hoped that similar trends will emerge throughout the entertainment industry.
