[TV Daily reporter Kim Jin-seok] Miao shared insights on classical sampling during the showcase for her second EP 'BITE NOW'.

On June 1, the event took place at the Cube Convention Center in Mapo, Seoul, guided by host Park Seul-ki. This new album features five tracks, including the title song 'DDI RO RI', further establishing Miao's musical direction following her first EP 'MY EYES OPEN WIDE'.

Notably, 'DDI RO RI' reinterprets Bach's 'Toccata and Fugue in D Minor', merging the grandeur of classical music with contemporary expressions. Narin acknowledged the pressure associated with classical sampling but expressed confidence in showcasing their identity clearly.

Miao humorously suggested that Bach would likely dance upon hearing their music, adding a light-hearted atmosphere to the event. 'BITE NOW' is set for release at 6 PM today.

Miao's latest EP presents a bold new musical direction that traverses both tradition and modernity. Classical sampling is a significant challenge for artists as it involves reinterpreting iconic works through contemporary lenses. Nevertheless, Miao demonstrates an ambition to provide fresh experiences through her unique interpretations.

The title track 'DDI RO RI' draws references from Bach's work while injecting modern sensibilities, illustrating how the charm of classical music can be adapted to the present. This highlights that classical sampling in K-pop is not merely a trend, but a pathway for deeper musical exploration. Engaging in composition based on traditional music can solidify an artist's identity further.

Miao's EP release also reaffirms the importance of classical music within the K-pop scene. Classical music often serves as a springboard for new interpretations and creations in contemporary popular music, breaking down musical boundaries and reaching diverse audiences in the process.
