The company has submitted a date change request, but the trial will proceed as scheduled.
The court has approved ADOR's property seizure request.
On May 12, ADOR announced a change in its legal representation as it prepares to address the ongoing lawsuit involving Daniel. A team of four lawyers from the law firm Rihan has been appointed, filling the gap left by the resignation of the Kim & Chang firm last month. Rihan is also known for representing Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of HYBE.
ADOR confirmed that the new legal team is indeed in place and has filed a request to change the trial date, although the hearing set for the 14th will proceed as scheduled. This trial is set to be held at the Seoul Central District Court.
Last year, ADOR initiated legal action against New Jeans member Daniel, seeking to terminate his exclusive contract and claiming damages amounting to 43 billion KRW. ADOR argues that both Daniel and former CEO Min Hee-jin bear direct responsibility for his departure from the group. Additionally, the court has approved ADOR's request for a property seizure against former CEO Min and Daniel’s mother, resulting in 5 billion KRW and 2 billion KRW worth of assets being tied up, respectively.
The recent change in legal counsel signals ADOR's commitment to strengthening its position in the ongoing legal battle with Daniel. The law firm Rihan, now representing ADOR, has connections with HYBE's Bang Si-hyuk, which could enhance ADOR's credibility in court and strengthen its legal standing.
The lawsuit against Daniel represents a deeper issue beyond mere contractual disputes; it reflects serious trust issues between the artist and the company. The details surrounding Daniel's departure from the group, along with the conflicts that emerged during that period, may play a crucial role in how the case unfolds in court.
The court’s approval of the property seizure further bolsters ADOR's claims and complicates the situation between Daniel and former CEO Min. It will be important to observe how future hearings develop and the implications they may have on both parties moving forward.
