ADOR Files Property Seizure Against Min Hee-jin and Daniel's Mother Ahead of May Lawsuit
ADOR has filed for property seizure against Daniel and his mother, as well as Min Hee-jin.
The damage lawsuit set for May is expected to be a critical turning point.
Following Daniel's departure from the group, the remaining NewJeans members are gearing up for their return.

ADOR has initiated a property seizure against former NewJeans member Daniel, his mother, and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, signaling the onset of a legal battle. A pivotal lawsuit is expected to unfold in May that may determine the future of these parties. According to a report on the 29th, the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR's injunction, ordering a seizure of 70 billion won worth of property, including 50 billion won from Min Hee-jin and 20 billion won from Daniel's mother.

Last December, ADOR filed a lawsuit for damages amounting to 430 billion won against Daniel, his mother, and Min Hee-jin. Subsequently, in January, they filed for property seizure against the latter two, excluding Daniel. As a result of this court ruling, Min Hee-jin's apartment and villa, as well as Daniel's mother's villa and office, have been seized.

May is poised to be a significant turning point in this case. On May 14, a court hearing will be held regarding ADOR's lawsuit seeking 431 billion won in damages from Daniel's family and Min Hee-jin. The following day, further hearings will continue regarding lawsuits from Source Music and B-Lift against Min Hee-jin, totaling 25 billion won. Notably, B-Lift's lawsuit regarding plagiarism claims also draws attention as it tackles allegations of 'I-Lit Copy'.

This incident has undoubtedly sparked controversy within the Korean entertainment scene, revealing the sensitive dynamics between an agency and its artists. ADOR’s decision to pursue a 430 billion won lawsuit indicates a serious concern regarding the actions of Daniel's family, which may have subconsciously tarnished the image and trust vested in the group. Such conflict exemplifies the complex changes within the K-pop industry and how fandoms are significantly impacted by these shifts.

As the legal battle intensifies, fans and the public have had to abandon previous expectations of Daniel's continued involvement with the group, which is disappointing considering the potential effects on NewJeans' activities. The remaining members will need to strategize on how to navigate these changes in group dynamics, and the outcome of Minji's negotiations with her agency is also of considerable interest. This scenario poses a larger question about how such crises can reshape individual careers and the group's overall image within the K-pop market.

Lastly, this situation highlights the blurred power dynamics between K-pop artists and their agencies, while also reminding the need for artists to establish their identities as independent creators. Collaborative efforts and mutual understanding are essential for a hopeful future, and similar incidents may become more common in the industry. Moving forward, the K-pop sector must find ways to adapt to these rapidly changing environments while protecting the rights of individual artists.
