[TV Daily Reporter Han Seoyul] The group TWICE has been nominated for the 'Best Female K-Pop Artist' category at the American Music Awards (AMA). The AMA officially announced the list of nominees on their website on the 14th, adding TWICE to the lineup. This marks TWICE’s second nomination for the AMA, following their prior nomination in 2022 for 'Favorite K-Pop Artist'. Currently, TWICE is successfully touring North America as part of their sixth world tour 'THIS IS FOR', performing in a total of 33 shows across 19 cities. On the 17th and 18th, they will conclude their North American leg at the Moody Center in Austin, and from April 25 to 28, they will hold a solo concert at the Tokyo National Stadium in Japan, opening all 360-degree seats to meet approximately 240,000 fans.

TWICE's nomination for the American Music Awards serves as a significant testament to the global stature of K-Pop. Being recognized at the AMA, regarded as one of the three major music awards alongside the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards, provides a remarkable opportunity for K-Pop artists to capture media and public attention. As K-Pop continues to gain global recognition, TWICE's position as a leader in this genre is likely to further fuel the expansion of their fandom. Moreover, currently on their sixth world tour, TWICE’s activities go beyond music alone, closely intertwining with various cultures around the world. Their successful shows in North America have exemplified their popularity, and with large-scale concerts ahead in Japan, their status as K-Pop artists is expected to be significantly reinforced.
