The woman visited Jungkook's home over 20 times between December and January.
The prosecution deemed her actions as stalking, highlighting privacy invasion issues for public figures.
[TVDaily Reporter Hwang Seoyeon] A Brazilian woman in her 30s, known as A, has been arrested for stalking BTS member Jungkook’s residence. On March 3, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that A was indicted for violating stalking laws and trespassing.
Between December of last year and January of this year, A allegedly visited Jungkook’s home over 20 times, ringing the doorbell and leaving letters. While A claimed that her actions stemmed from love for Jungkook, the prosecution viewed them as stalking.
Notably, A was previously arrested on December 13 for breaking into Jungkook’s residence. After being released, she continued her stalking behavior and, despite a police-issued restraining order, returned to the vicinity of Jungkook’s home, leading to her subsequent arrest.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of privacy invasion faced by public figures. While many fans express their support and love for artists, some behaviors can cross the line. This case serves as a significant reminder of the importance of responsible fandom culture.
Jungkook is a central member of BTS, boasting a strong fanbase that often expresses support in various ways. However, such devotion can, at times, surpass healthy boundaries. The prosecution's verdict serves as an essential lesson that stalking is not just an expression of love but a crime.
The safety and mental well-being of artists must always be prioritized. This event encourages not only celebrities but everyone to reflect on measures needed to protect their own safety in the face of such alarming situations.
