[TV Daily, Kim Hangil] Lee Si-ha, president of the Korean Music Copyright Association, has declared a 'declaration of war against the AI era'. He warns that the music industry is experiencing unprecedented changes due to the rapid expansion of generative AI.

As a response, on February 26, six music rights organizations gathered to establish the 'K Music Rights Organizations Cooperation Committee'. This committee aims to lead a new copyright order and includes representatives from key organizations such as the Korean Music Copyright Association and the Korea Recording Industry Association.

Chairing the committee is Lee Si-ha, who has stated that they will develop a unified response strategy to tackle multiple crises, including the spread of generative AI and the overseas leakage of Hallyu profits. One of the strategies involves creating a blockchain-based copyright management system for real-time tracking and revenue collection.

This initiative is viewed as a vital step for music rights organizations to unite and establish a foundation for responding to new technological changes. Given the implications of generative AI on music creation, their solidarity is crucial for safeguarding the ecosystem of the industry. Many creators face the risk of losing autonomy; however, this collaboration is expected to empower them.

Additionally, the adoption of blockchain technology is likely to enhance transparency and efficiency in copyright management. Such advancements are promising opportunities to strengthen Korea's position in global copyright management and will assist in elevating Korean music content on the international stage.

The formation of the Cooperation Committee represents a shift beyond mere crisis management; it lays the groundwork for pioneering innovative changes that can lead the future of the music industry. The power of unity should help the domestic music market to develop further, fostering a more robust environment for growth.
