CJ ENM Sued by Production Company Over 'Street Woman Fighter 3' Allegations
CJ ENM has been accused of fraud regarding the 'Street Woman Fighter 3' concert.
Root59 claims that while 24 performances were promised, only 12 were contracted.
CJ ENM counters that they are not obligated as per the contract and plans legal action.

[TV Daily, Lee Gi-eun] CJ ENM has been accused of fraud in relation to the 'Street Woman Fighter 3' concert. On February 6, My Daily reported that the production company Root59 filed a complaint against CJ ENM and its officials at the Seocho Police Station on February 3, citing violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment for Specific Economic Crimes. Root59 claims that while CJ ENM guaranteed a 24-performance national tour for 'Street Woman Fighter 3', they only contracted for 12 performances, leading to artist absences at shows across seven cities, fan protests, and a subsequent refund crisis worth millions. Root59's CEO, Jin Dong-ki, expressed concern in an interview, stating that he invested 2.2 billion won in sponsorship funds but incurred nearly 5 billion won in actual losses. In contrast, CJ ENM argued that the number of performances could vary based on Root59's planning and operational capabilities, emphasizing that they are not responsible for supplementary support as per the contract. This situation is expected to be resolved through legal proceedings.

This incident has sparked significant controversy over the contractual obligations between CJ ENM and Root59. The discrepancy between the guaranteed number of performances by CJ ENM and the actual contracted amount raises concerns that could affect future concert business practices. Given the high expectations for the number of performances among both artists and fans, the discontent and disappointment stemming from this conflict could potentially undermine trust throughout the industry.
