AKMU Begins a New Journey with 'Fountain of Inspiration' After Leaving YG
AKMU has left YG Entertainment to join 'Fountain of Inspiration.'
The new contract is set to commence on January 27, 2026.
They are expected to gain increased artistic freedom with this change.

The sibling duo AKMU has announced their departure from YG Entertainment, where they had been for 12 years, to join a new agency called 'Fountain of Inspiration.' On January 20, they informed their fans on the Weverse platform that "the exclusive contract with YG Entertainment has ended, and the new agency will be Fountain of Inspiration," with the transition set for January 27, 2026. The name 'Fountain of Inspiration' is derived from an art exhibition held by Lee Chan-hyuk. AKMU rose to fame by winning the SBS audition program 'K-Pop Star' Season 2 in 2013, subsequently signing with YG and debuting in 2014. Last November, they decided on a new challenge after discussions with producer Yang Hyun-seok.

AKMU's shift to a new agency marks a pivotal moment in the K-pop industry, as it allows the sibling duo to break away from the large-scale management structure of YG. This shift opens up possibilities for greater artistic freedom and creative exploration.

The name 'Fountain of Inspiration' reflects Lee Chan-hyuk's artistic vision, building anticipation for potential synergies with their music direction. It suggests that the duo can now showcase more distinct and personalized creations.

The news, delivered quickly through the fan platform Weverse, positively impacts their engagement with fans. The establishment of a new agency could bring much-needed freshness to their careers, showing how crucial this transition is in their journey.
